I studied Danish and am here to tell you that there’s no point. Not only is it darn near impossible, but the Danes all speak fantastic English and think it’s absurd for non-Danes to try to speak Danish with them. I used to try but people would say “WHY? there are only 5 million of us and we all speak English!” On the other hand, you get lots of credit if you can pronounce smørrebrød correctly (hint: there are no audible “r”s or “d”s).

Thank you, I just caught your comment on my blog (see how totally attentive I am?) I hope to see you in Copenhagen, too. I just now found out I would be able to go, woo hoo. And it’s good that most of the Danes speak English…my mother tried to teach me once but all I picked up were the swear words!
