I could use $2

The NY Daily News (bastion of journalism) is reporting that a Bronx middle-school teacher either paid $2 or coerced (not really clear) a former classmate to take the teachers’ certification exam. The teacher had flunked several times, and his plan failed because his fill-in (who has Asperger’s syndrome) did too well on the exam, and this raised suspicions.

I’ve been toying with the idea of taking some time off from “The Academy” to teach in a public school in New York (as a teaching fellow), and this certainly makes it clear that the need is there. (via Alex via Gawker)

there’s a word or some letters missing… bit of a fragment. You should be teaching in a faculty of education and then doing work in schools. Well, that’s my goal. You can effect more change when you focus on who your students are… if they are those who will teach the next generation, much mayhem will ensue.

As for the NYDN, I think they published a photo of mine last year.

Thanks! I guess I won’t be teaching English. I am sure your photo brought the NYDN up a notch.

As for the teaching thing, it’s chickens and eggs. I wonder if by the time they are in college it’s too late to have much of an effect. It certainly feels that way sometimes.

Besides, the chances of a School of Ed hiring me seem pretty slim…

The photo was of the Castle Dracula Hotel…
