The biggest differences, IMO, between Spitzer and Clinton are that it is definitely illegal to pay a hooker (though I agree with you that prostitution ought to be legal and regulated) while it is not illegal (though, of course, ill-advised) to have an affair with a young intern, and, while spousal cheating is common enough (at least I presume it is since I don’t think half of marriages in this country fail simply because people grow apart), paying someone $4000 or so for some action is not.

That and all the hypocrisy, of course.

The news reports I have heard said that Spitzer was caught with a banking investigation process that Spitzer himself pushed for as attorney general to get Wall Street and other kinds of crooks. Talk about hanging yourself….

Maybe I am jaded but this type of behavior from politicians no longer shocks me. What I find inexplicable is the wife is always there by the disgraced politician’s side. I would hold my own press conference announcing my intention to file for divorce. The call girl got $ 4300 for this tryst. If I was the wife I would be mad about that waste of money as well.
