waaaaa… you never tell me anything :) Congratulations. As far as status, you carry that with you… having it provided by your school has always been a bit of a sham to me.

I’ve certainly enjoyed the support for my research that I have at my present teaching university, in comparison to my experiences at our nation’s top research university.

Go change the world now… between classes.

Thatâ€s my mission over the next couple of years." bravo. i'm terrible with predictions but it seems to me that R1s, in the states at least, are so twentieth century. when you're looking for cross-institutional teaching collaborations, please count me in. the campus is gorgeous; the quad is dreamy. dude, are you serious about commuting? back and forth each day or will you go up tues-wed-thurs or something like that? congratulations, alex - it will be quite a thrill to see what you and your students create when unfettered.

Welcome to the world of the teaching college. You’ll have a blast. A four course load isn’t so bad, especially if you can double-up preps and “distance” a couple. And research is more satisfying when it’s not about mandated publication quotas.

Hey, it was a secret from me! Congratulations, Alex — speaking as a faculty member at a very, very non-R1 institution, I can tell you that there are great pleasures to be found there. Some aggravations, yes, but on the whole, I wouldn’t trade my institution for anything. Quinnipiac sounds like a great fit for you. Best of luck with the transition!
