I hate to admit how much KROQ insinuated itself as the soundtrack of my life. Of course, KROQ is still around (and pretty bleh), but there is now a web stream of KROQ of the 80s reconstructed. Not just a mix of the music, but drops and station IDs from the period.
I just listened to a set with Elvis Costello, Duran Duran, the Human League, and Madness, and I’m instantly cutting Japanese class, cruising south down on PCH headed to Salt Creek Beach in my tricked out sable brown 944. The roof is off, and the sea breeze is blowing in my hair, because I have some.
(Unfortunately, they also run modern ads, which really sucks. Completely ruins the illusion.)
