Unelectable

It’s easy enough to chalk this this up to Bush bashing. A couple of students keep asking me when I plan to go into politics. My answer remains “someday.” The problem is that I would have difficulty doing what is suggested here: promising one thing while out on the campaign trail, then turning around and doing something else. I don’t think Bush is unique in this regard. Since I tend to prefer local solutions to local issues, I would also want fiscal restraint. But I would say this to the people I planned to cut funds from. That is to say, I would be unelectable.

People are always telling me to get into politics but I don’t know how successful I’d be as a politician. I’m probably too far to the left for most and I’m pretty sure my opponents would brand me a communist and try to scare everyone off. That, and my somewhat New Agey religios beliefs, would probably hold me back.
