Slashdot is running a short “librarians are cooler than you think” essay. The problem is that while many librarians are very much on the cutting edge, many are not. It seems some think they can get away with not knowing the technology, which in my humble opinion is not an acceptable position to take. Every librarian should have some basic computer and networking proficiency. They need not all be wizards, but none should be hiding their head in the sand and waiting for this whole “computer thing” to blow over.
