very intense! it’s pretty incredible that your sister survived an 18-19 foot shark.

My dad doesn’t like my little sister swimming in the ocean near his place cause of the hammerheads that you can see when you fly over. I guess I can stop complaining about his over cautiousness. :) Good that she’s recovered so well.

Sure is. I think the scariest part–which this recreation didn’t get into–is that the shark ended up with her leash in his mouth and dragged her under when he decided to get out of there. Luckily, the cord broke.

She was one of the few who was willing to talk on camera about being attacked. We Halavais are apparently not camera shy. Of course, she still surfs in the “Red Triangle,” rather than, say, relocating to Hawaii, which means that we are apparently too stubborn to change our ways. Still, the chances are minuscule that a Great White will attack any given surfer on any given day, even in that area.

Jason: Is that in Florida? Megan was just swimming there and they had to leave the water to avoid a “tiny” bull shark. At least with the great whites, the primary target is surfers rather than swimmers.
