MediaUnbound

Tom Coates alerted me to MediaUnbound. a new preferences engine for selecting music. I won’t comment much on the flash-based interface, except to suggest that it feels a bit like a hearing test. I will say that I am pretty impressed with the way it captured my tastes in music. I’ve played with a number of collaborative filtering systems for music, and none constructed a playlist that hit so close to home. Admittedly, there were several songs that were way off the mark, but I would say the playlist looked like about an even cross between a really good radio station and my own MP3 randomized playlist. Definitely worth a look.
