The Buffalo News is running an article praising the number of patents (346 last year) issued to individuals and corporations from Buffalo. We are #49 of 100.
Still, Buffalo is doing better than many other regions – such as Charlotte, San Antonio and Sacramento – that have reputations as centers of business and technology.
Yippee! Better than Sacramento. If we can increase our numbers by 4000% we will be rivaling Rochester–assuming Rochester stays stationary. In fact, that’s the biggest problem of the article. It is based entirely on figures, and twice mentions a 30% increase over the last 10 years, but says nothing about how this compares to other cities. That is, a 30% increase doesn’t mean much if the average city increased 50%. Not even a whisper. They call this front page news?
