Exquisite Blog

Ginny K, a “student” in my course, is keeping an exquisite blog. For a more fun cadavre exquis, take a look at this.

Of course, the latter example does not make use of human intervention; it is entirely random. As Kara and I were discussing yesterday, Markov chains are a much more interesting way to create non-human exquisite corpses. I’m guessing that’s how Kurzweil’s poetry generator works. If I can find a program that does this well, I’ll use it to talk about information theory in my grad class. There are some examples and a reference to where to find some code on this page: Markovification of Famous Texts. Maybe we could even play with SAM, though a less intimidating way of looking at it would be nice.

Sometime, when I have a little extra time on my hands, I should make use of some of the data I’m collecting and construct an automatic blog entry generator.
