It seems I am more ethically aligned with Kant than with Nietzsche. News to me! This according to the Ethical Philosophy Selector (via, most immediately, Joshua). The full lineup:
1. John Stuart Mill (100%) 2. Jean-Paul Sartre (86%) 3. Kant (83%) 4. Jeremy Bentham (79%) 5. Ayn Rand (74%) 6. Epicureans (71%) 7. Aristotle (67%) 8. Prescriptivism (62%) 9. Aquinas (61%) 10. Spinoza (59%) |
11. Thomas Hobbes (50%) 12. Ockham (45%) 13. Nietzsche (44%) 14. Cynics (43%) 15. David Hume (40%) 16. St. Augustine (38%) 17. Plato (28%) 18. Stoics (23%) 19. Nel Noddings (13%) |
My suspicion is that Mill comes out near the top for everyone. I was much happier to have managed to make it through the Battleground God quiz unscathed: my views on the existence of Nessie do not conflict with my views on God–in fact, they bear a lot in common (via Eszter).

I have never set foot in a church (minus my Step-grandmother’s funeral), and I have never been baptized or anything of the sorts. I don’t know if I consider myself atheist though. I know scientific research never proves anything right (it proves things wrong, and in a sense makes things seem right), and I know there are rational explanations for many many things. But, I also believe, some things just happen. I think it matched me up pretty well….

Wow! Jeff and Nietzche…I had no idea…
Ha! I was 100% with Nietzsche too!
OK, this is one of those times when you have to wonder if the person is really tying together things correctly? I’ve gone back and *tried* to get 100% on Nietzsche, but couldn’t, which means that either I or the quiz-writer misread Nietzsche. I suppose both are possible (he said humbly).
I’m a bit scared of my IAs now…
HAHA!
This is a very cool exercise — I was surprised at my outcomes —
1. Jean-Paul Sartre (100%)
2. David Hume (82%)
3. Nietzsche (71%)
4. Kant (66%)
5. Ayn Rand (63%)
