Commentspam: small circle*

I am in the process of cleaning up the latest comment-spamming on my site. What a pain. I know there are a bunch of potential solutions floating around out there, but I’ve taken Jeremy’s advice and installed James Seng’s solution, for a couple of reasons. First, it is close to what I was planning on writing, and it is already written :). Second, it is minimally intrusive, and does not require a huge overhead.

Of course, if more than a handful of people start using it, it will be worth someone’s time to figure out a work-around. I am relying on the fact that not everyone will adopt it right away. Homogeneity breeds parasites.

Hope this saves me a little time in the short run.

* I need a separate blog just to annotate my titles, I think. When I was a kid, I studied judo and jujitsu with a bunch of folks in the US and Japan, but mostly with the Scottsdale Judo & Jujitsu Club, and with Jundokai in southern California (which does far better with teaching judo and jujitsu than it does with web design :). The latter was fairly interdisciplinary in approach, and I was exposed while there to what Wally Jay has called the “small circle technique” which–as with most forms of ju* attempts to meet brute force with small, but effective, movements. So, one more obscure title out of the way in an annotation longer than the entry.

On a related note, someone has already beat me in applying the principles of judo to management, but I would love to write something on what judo teaches about pedagogy, maybe for the Journal of Asian Martial Arts. Though that would probably require me to get my self back into a dojo, sometime soon.
