Got the panel in for the Internet Research Conference in Toronto, literally at the 11th hour. That’s some feat, considering the deadline was extended to the 10th from the 1st. One would think that juggling submissions and putting together a panel would be easier than submitting one’s own paper, but as always, the coordination costs seem to increase with the number of people involved.
That said, I think we have an extraordinary set of topics together, and I think that–assuming we are accepted–we will have one of the more dynamic presentations at the conference. So we may not be the first to present academic work on weblogs (notably, there is the BlogTalk conference happening soon, and I know of at least on blogging panel at ICA in a couple of months), but the AIR conferences seem to bring together an interesting group of people with interesting ideas.
I’ll hold off on posting the panel abstracts until it is accepted, but I would definitely want to go see this panel, even if my paper weren’t in it :).

Did you submit to BlogTalk? I’m crossing my fingers on my paper – but just found out that the acceptance rate is around 23% so I won’t hold my breath. That conference is set to be an amazing event, in addition to the AOIR & ICA panels!
I didn’t send anything to BlogTalk. It looks to be an excellent conference, but I’m super-busy lately, and I didn’t know how I could fit it in. Besides, I think it overlaps with ICA, no?
Not sure about ICA (I was too swamped during those deadlines!), but I know that BlogTalk is over Memorial Day weekend. Enjoy ICA!
