Today was the first day to have simultaneous ASL translation in my class. Got to look up and see 800 eyes looking intently stage-left. I’m clearly going to have to figure out a way to be more animated now.

Why? what do having eyes focused on you matter? isn’t this just the ‘lecture’ or ‘transferance’ mentality of teaching holding forth?
It’s not like I got into teaching in order to have students learn anything. It’s all about getting attention.
precisely :) i personally don’t like the attention, i’d rather have my students learn in a classroom while i sit someplace interesting, like a beach or something.
