Belated Memorial Day

I like this picture of a memorial somewhere in Greenwich Villiage for lots of reasons. And it seemed apropriate to Memorial Day.

Bonus to those who recognize the quotation. (No Google, faineant broadbander!).

    Alex,
Does the other side of the monument convey the complete quotation from Milton?

Enflamed with the study of learning and the admiration of virtue; stirred up with high hopes of living to be brave men and worthy patriots, dear to God, and famous to all ages.

I think it begins from “brave men…” on the monument. That was quick :). But I don’t doubt it’s a familiar quote to many educators.
