National Borders on the what?
Sunday, February 22nd, 1998Well, I was planning on having my introduction and plan done this weekend, but all I have done is a first draft of the Lyotard paper for Gromala’s class. I figure I’ll have a little to eat, then work for an hour or an hour and a half and then go to bed. Jamie doesn’t know when she’ll be home. She had a meeting in Preston for the managers of her store.
The next step on the thesis is to re conceptualize it. I was on the way to school on Friday to go to an informational meeting on the TA selection process, I was walking to the bus when a Chinese student in a Toyota asked if I wanted a ride. With three people in the car, he could get free parking on campus. Morris, as he told me his name was when we arrived, was in the process of completing his dissertation on 1920s capital enterprises. On the way, he asked me what my dissertation was about. I said: “National borders on the World Wide Web.” When he asked me what that meant, and asked for a concrete example, I was at a loss. So, my next step is to go back and strike a new thesis, perhaps a bit narrower. I’ll also try to come up with some questions like this to preemptively be able to answer.
